Why download an image to print at home?

Its quick, easy, fun and ....cheap!

Most home use ink jet and laser printers have a very high dpi printing capacity, so as long as you have a large enough file - your home printer can produce great prints.

Printing your Art Print at home

Yes - you can buy a picture online for a buck - but you cannot print it at 8 1/2" x 11" and get a clear crisp print. The problem has always been the size of the image (resolution) - not the printer! No more. We've done all the work for you -except the printing!

Best of all you can print these images over and over, and even tweek them in your photo editing software. Hey, you could even add your own pictures or create a whole new image!

Square is not always square

Each high resolution art print is formatted to fit a standard sized 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. We leave a 1/2" margin around all images for printer allowances and matting. All image sets are sold as downloadable zip files in jpg format.

The dimensions of the print are not stretched so please double check the actual dimensions of the images before ordering a frame or mat. (This means some images may actually be 6" x 10 1/2" depending on the proportions of the image)

Also some images are not truly squared, which means you may want to allow for the matt to cover 3/4" all the way around the image.

Your home printer + good paper = Art Right Now!

The vast majority of home printers offer a variety or papers and printable canvas to choose from, which will also improve the print image quality. We recommend a Bright White acid free Bond weight paper or printable canvas. These can be purchased online or at most office supply stores. Always test the paper first to make sure it gives you the look you want.

High Resolution means better print quality

Our Images are saved at 300 dpi. We use only high quality scans - the same images we use to print at much larger sizes. This means you get professional quality large format images at thumbnail prices.

Resolution so high you'll swear its wrinkled!

In fact some of our antique posters have such high resolution that you can see folds and wrinkles in the original when it prints out. (In our art print store we have even had people accuse us of sending them an old torn or faded print - the detail was so clear on their new art print reproduction)

Please check the close ups - we try to show an accurate depiction of each image. Remember - the majority of our images are OLD. We do not always have a pristine original so the scans also include any imperfections.

We think this adds to the authenticity and character of the print and hope you do too. If not that's fine, but please understand this before writing to complain to us your antique art print reproduction looks like an antique. (seriously - it happens)

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder

These images were often originally printed with presses that did not create crisp clear lines to begin with, colors bled and the outlines were sometimes off set. Once again - we LOVE this authenticity! It makes the old travel posters, circus prints and advertising images look really authentic. (at least we think so) Besides that these are inexpensive and easy to do at home.

However many of the Japanese watercolors, modern art prints and other images print out like they are brand new! It all depends on the original. Many of our images are not found anywhere else online or off!
